As we celebrate the New Year, it is customary to look back over mistakes we have made

over the last 12 months and consider how to do better next year.

It is, of course, easy to analyze actions taken after the event,

and there are some interesting English phrases to express this situation.

"With 20/20 hindsight"

means "with perfect vision into the past",

whilst it's easy to be "the Monday morning quarterback"

refers to knowing what the American football player should have done

after the game is over !
