Whilst you are getting your house ready for the Passover
festival (if you are making a big effort, we say in English
you are giving it a lot of 'elbow grease'),
you might be interested to know that our non-Jewish
neighbours in Britain also spent time and effort in a major
end-of-winter re-decoration and/or re-organization of
cupboards, and called it "Spring Cleaning".
i wonder where they got the idea from ?
To get the holiday off to a good start, I am linking
to an upbeat song about Passover – just click on the picture
below to listen (and read – there are English subtitles) :
*** The clip was downloaded from YouTube for study purposes. I do not own the copyright.
You will notice that the group call the song "Passover Jam".
As well meaning the confiture we spread on our matza (I am
particularly fond of Strawberry Jam), the Merriam-Webster
online English dictionary, which I strongly recommend you
use, defines "jam" as :
– to improvise on a musical instrument with a group,
– to take part in a jam session,
– musicians jamming together.
So "jam on" – this way you might lose some calories rather
than putting them on !!
