Probably Certainly

The adverb "certainly" means that something is definitely going

happen, whereas "probably" means there is a good possibility

that something will occur.

Can they be used in the same sentence ?

n this scene from an episode of the classic BBC TV series

"Yes, Prime Minister",

a satirical comedy focusing on the democratic political system

of government battling with the civil service administration to get

things done, we see the Prime Minister and one of his senior

staff discussing the probability of Britain using nuclear weapons

against foreign enemies.

Notice the entertaining use of the adverbs "probably" and

"certainly".

Are you confused, like the Prime Minister ?!

Then, don't use this combination of certainly and probably

in your spoken and written business communication.

Keep your message clear and simple !
